Why Ottawa homeowners finance HVAC equipment
Most furnaces and air conditioners don’t fail on a schedule. A furnace that quits during a −25 °C cold snap needs to be replaced in days, not after months of saving.
Furnace and HVAC financing turns a single large cost into predictable monthly payments, so you can choose the right equipment for your home instead of the cheapest unit available that week.
It also helps with planned upgrades. Many homeowners finance a high-efficiency furnace and AC together, or a cold-climate heat pump, because the monthly payment is easier to fit into a budget than the full price up front.

What you can finance
Financing is available on new equipment installations. Common projects and their typical installed price ranges in Ottawa:
| Project | Typical installed range |
|---|---|
| High-efficiency gas furnace (96–98% AFUE) | $4,500 – $8,500 (variable-speed/modulating up to ~$10,500) |
| Central air conditioner | $4,000 – $8,000 |
| Furnace + AC combo | $8,000 – $15,000 |
| Ducted cold-climate heat pump | $9,000 – $18,000 |
| Gas tank water heater (40–50 gal) | $1,800 – $3,200 |
| Tankless water heater | $3,500 – $6,500 |
These are typical ranges before any rebates, not quotes. The final price depends on the home, the equipment, and the venting or ductwork needed. Oria gives free estimates on new installations, and your estimate is the number your financing is based on.
See our furnace installation, air conditioning installation and heat pump installation pages for what goes into each price.

Install and start payments
We schedule the installation. Your monthly payments follow the schedule in your agreement.
Questions to ask before you sign any financing
Whoever you finance with, these are the details that decide what you really pay.
What is the total cost?
Compare the full amount you'll pay over the term, not just the monthly payment. A lower payment over a longer term can cost more overall.
What is the interest rate?
Ask for the rate in writing, and whether any promotional rate changes after a set period.
Can I pay it off early?
Find out whether you can make extra payments or pay the balance off without a penalty.
Do I own the equipment?
Financing a purchase is different from a rental or lease. With a purchase, the equipment is yours when it's paid off.

Financing, rentals and rebates
Buying with financing versus renting
Water heater rentals are common in Ontario, typically about $25 to $45 a month, but you never own the tank. Financing a purchase usually costs more per month for a shorter period, and then the payments end. Our guide on renting versus buying a water heater compares the two.
Combining financing with rebates
Rebate programs for heat pumps and other upgrades are generally paid after the installation is complete and approved, so financing can cover the gap until a rebate arrives. Some programs also require approval before the work starts. See our HVAC rebates page for current programs.
A note on door-to-door offers
Ontario restricts door-to-door sales of furnaces, air conditioners and water heaters. If someone shows up uninvited offering a “free” upgrade or a monthly plan, don’t sign anything at the door. Get a written estimate from a licensed contractor you contacted yourself.
When your furnace fails mid-winter
Not every breakdown means a new furnace. Our technicians diagnose the problem first, and most common furnace repairs cost $150 to $900. We’ll tell you honestly when a repair makes more sense than a replacement. See our furnace repair page for what to expect.
If the furnace is near the end of its life, has a cracked heat exchanger, or needs a major part on an old unit, replacement is often the better value. That’s where financing helps: you can make the right long-term choice without paying the full amount in the middle of January.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers from licensed Ottawa technicians. Still have a question? Call us any time.
Do you offer furnace financing in Ottawa?
Yes. Oria Heating and Cooling offers financing on new furnace installations in Ottawa, from $49 per month on approved credit. Your actual payment depends on the total price of your installation, the term you choose and the credit approval. We start with a free estimate so you know the full project price before you apply.
What HVAC equipment can I finance?
You can finance new installations of gas furnaces, central air conditioners, furnace and AC combinations, ducted and cold-climate heat pumps, and water heaters, both tank and tankless. Ask about other projects when you book your estimate. Financing is based on the written price for your complete installation, and it is subject to credit approval.
How much is the monthly payment on a new furnace?
Payments start from $49 per month on approved credit. The amount depends on the total price, the term and the interest rate the lender approves. A high-efficiency gas furnace in Ottawa typically costs $4,500 to $8,500 installed, so your payment will depend on where your project falls in that range. Your estimate gives the exact project price.
Do I need good credit to finance a furnace?
Financing is subject to credit approval, and the lender decides whether to approve the application and on what terms. Your credit history can affect the rate and term offered. If you’re not sure, ask us about the application process at your free estimate before you commit to any equipment.
Can I combine financing with rebates?
Usually, yes. Rebates for heat pumps and other upgrades are generally paid after the work is completed and approved, so financing can cover the full cost while you wait for the rebate. Some programs require approval before installation starts, so check eligibility first. Our HVAC rebates page lists current programs and their requirements.
Is it better to finance or rent a water heater?
It depends on how long you plan to stay in the home. Rentals in Ontario typically cost about $25 to $45 a month and continue indefinitely, while financing a purchase ends once the balance is paid and you own the tank. Over a water heater’s full life, owning usually costs less, but renting includes repairs.
