HVAC rebates at a glance (as of October 2026)
This page reflects program information we checked on official government and utility websites in October 2026. Rebate programs change often, sometimes with little notice, so always confirm amounts and eligibility with the program before you sign a contract.
| Program | Who it’s for | Status (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Home Renovation Savings (Enbridge Gas + Save on Energy) | Ontario homeowners | Open. Cold-climate heat pumps up to $7,500; ground source up to $12,000 |
| National Heat Pump Rebate (federal) | Canadian homeowners installing cold-climate air source heat pumps | Announced October 8, 2026; $2,000, or up to $10,000 for below-median-income households. Not yet open |
| Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (federal) | Oil-heated homes, median income or below | Closed to new applications July 31, 2026 |
| Canada Greener Homes Grant (federal) | Homeowners doing energy retrofits | Closed |
| LogisVert (Hydro-Québec) | Quebec homeowners, including Gatineau | Open. Up to $6,700 for an eligible heat pump |
We did not find a rebate for a standard gas furnace replacement in the current Home Renovation Savings listings. Heat pumps, insulation and a few related upgrades are where the money is in 2026.
Home Renovation Savings: heat pump rebates in Ontario
Home Renovation Savings is delivered by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy (a brand of the IESO), with support from the Ontario government. It replaced Enbridge’s Home Efficiency Rebate, which ended intake on January 27, 2025.
Heat pump rebates are paid per ton of heating capacity, up to a cap, and the amount depends on how your home is heated now:
| Heat pump type | Natural gas-heated home (Enbridge customer) | Home heated by electricity, oil, propane or wood |
|---|---|---|
| Cold-climate air source | $500 per ton, up to $2,000 | $1,250 per ton, up to $7,500 |
| Ground source | $3,000 | $2,000 per ton, up to $12,000 |
For example, a 3-ton cold-climate heat pump would qualify for about $3,750 in an oil- or electrically heated home, or $1,500 in a gas-heated home. Air source rebates are based on the unit’s rated heating capacity at 8.3 °C.
Key eligibility rules
- You must own the home. Eligible homes are detached, semi-detached, row or townhomes, and mobile homes on a permanent foundation. New builds occupied for six months or less don’t qualify.
- You must either be an Enbridge Gas residential customer who mainly heats with a natural gas furnace or boiler, or be connected to the Ontario electricity grid and heat with electricity, oil, propane or wood.
- The heat pump must be an active model on Natural Resources Canada’s qualified products list.
- The installation must be pre-approved. Work done before approval is not eligible.
Rural homes on oil or propane in areas like Greely, Osgoode, Carp and Kemptville get the higher rate, which is why heat pump conversions there often make strong financial sense. Read more in do heat pumps work in Ottawa winters?

Federal programs: what’s closed and what’s coming
Canada Greener Homes Grant: closed
The Canada Greener Homes Grant is closed. Applications ran from May 2021 to February 2024, and December 31, 2025 was the last day to upload documents. In Ontario, the grant was delivered with Enbridge’s HER+ program, which closed to new applicants on February 5, 2024. If a website or salesperson is still promising you a Greener Homes Grant, it is out of date.
Oil to Heat Pump Affordability: closed to new applications
This federal program offered up to $10,000 to oil-heated households at or below median after-tax income. July 31, 2026 was the last day to apply. Existing applicants must finish the work and upload final receipts by January 31, 2027. The program is moving to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
National Heat Pump Rebate: announced, not yet open
On October 8, 2026, the federal government announced a National Heat Pump Rebate for electric cold-climate air source heat pumps: $2,000 for eligible households, and up to $10,000 for households below the median income. The announcement describes an online portal with approval within 24 hours and no energy audits, and says it can be combined with provincial programs.
Hydro-Québec notes the federal funding is expected to begin in 2027, with details not yet known. We’ll update this page when the application rules are published.

Gatineau and Quebec: LogisVert heat pump assistance
Gatineau homeowners aren’t eligible for Ontario programs, but Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert program offers up to $6,700 toward the purchase and installation of an eligible ENERGY STAR heat pump. A 5% bonus may apply when you combine at least two measures in an eligible home.
- You must own a home in Quebec that is suitable for year-round living and supplied by Hydro-Québec’s grid.
- The heat pump must be new, bought in Quebec, and on the LogisVert list of eligible models.
- You’ll need your municipal tax bill, your Hydro-Québec customer and meter numbers, a photo of the outdoor unit’s nameplate, and an invoice showing the installation date, AHRI or ENERGY STAR number, proof of payment, and the contractor’s tax and Quebec licence numbers.
LogisVert’s no-cost heat pump offer for modest-income households has closed registration for the 2026–2027 season. Quebec’s Chauffez vert oil and propane conversion component ended on March 31, 2026.
Oria holds the licences required to work in Gatineau. See our Gatineau service page.
How Oria helps you get the rebate
Rebates are only worth having if the paperwork goes through. Claims commonly run into trouble because of an ineligible model, work started before approval, or an invoice missing required details.

Equipment that qualifies.
We recommend cold-climate heat pumps on the required lists and size them properly for your home, since Ontario rebates are paid per ton.
Timing.
We confirm what approvals are needed before any work is booked.
Paperwork.
We provide the detailed invoice, model and serial numbers and equipment documentation programs ask for.
Honest numbers.
A ducted cold-climate heat pump typically costs $9,000 to $18,000 installed, and a single-zone ductless mini-split $3,500 to $6,500, before rebates. The final price depends on the home, equipment and ductwork. Oria gives free estimates on new installations.
Ask us at your estimate how the application will be handled for your project. Learn more on our heat pump installation page, see what a heat pump costs in Ottawa, or spread the rest of the cost with financing.
Rebate programs don't cold-call
- NRCan says it does not solicit by phone, email or door-to-door for its home programs
- Home Renovation Savings warns of fake websites and impersonated contractors
