Manotick HVAC work rarely looks the same from one driveway to the next. Before we quote anything here, the first question is what fuel the house runs on, because it changes every recommendation.

Natural gas homes
In the village and in Minto's Mahogany community run gas furnaces, gas water heaters and often a gas fireplace, much like the rest of suburban Ottawa.
Propane homes
On the rural edge use propane furnaces and water heaters. Fuel costs more, so efficiency and heat pump backup pay off faster.
Oil and electric homes
On older rural properties are the best candidates for a cold-climate heat pump, sometimes with the existing furnace kept as backup.
Many Manotick properties outside Mahogany also draw water from a private well, and that affects water heaters and humidifiers in ways city homes never see.
A Manotick AC install, done properly
One of our favourite Manotick reviews came from Avat, who called us to install a new central air conditioner. While on site, our team also repaired the home’s fresh air unit, which had not worked for months.
“The installation of the ac unit inside and out are extremely clean, no messy pipes or wires, very well hidden refrigerant lines, and overall well put-together install.” – Avat, Manotick
That is the standard we hold on larger Manotick homes, where line sets often run long distances to reach the condenser and visible piping on a stone or wood exterior stands out. Learn more about air conditioning installation.

Moving off oil or cutting propane use
Rural Manotick homeowners ask us about heat pumps more than anyone else in our area. Here is how the main options compare.
Ducted cold-climate heat pump
Uses your existing ducts to heat and cool the whole house. Typically $9,000 – $18,000 installed, with the furnace kept as backup or replaced by electric backup heat.
Learn more →Ductless mini-splits
Wall-mounted heads for homes with no ducts or with hard-to-heat rooms. One zone typically runs $3,500 – $6,500; two to four heads $7,000 – $16,000.
Learn more →High-efficiency propane furnace
If you plan to stay on propane, a modern 95%+ AFUE furnace burns less fuel than an older mid-efficiency unit and can pair with a heat pump later.
Learn more →Rebates and paperwork
Rebates may be available, and Oria will check current programs for your home. The final price depends on the home, equipment and venting/ductwork, and Oria gives free estimates on new installs.

Hard well water and your water heater
Well water around Manotick is often hard, and minerals settle wherever water gets heated. In a tank water heater that means sediment, rumbling and a shorter life. In a tankless unit it means scale on the heat exchanger and error codes if it is never flushed.
If you are on a well, we recommend flushing a tankless heater yearly and pairing it with a water softener. We also check humidifier pads, which crust over quickly with hard water. Compare options on our tankless water heater page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers from licensed Ottawa technicians. Still have a question? Call us any time.
Do you service propane furnaces in Manotick?
We do. Our gas-licensed team services, repairs and replaces propane furnaces and propane water heaters on Manotick and other rural properties south of Ottawa. We can swap older units for high-efficiency models and can add a cold-climate heat pump so you burn less propane over the winter.
Is it worth switching my Manotick oil furnace to a heat pump?
For most oil-heated homes, yes. A cold-climate heat pump connected to your existing ductwork can heat and cool the house, with electric backup heat or your current furnace for the coldest nights. Many owners remove the oil tank once the change is made. A ducted conversion usually falls in the $9,000 – $18,000 range, and rebates may lower that.
Do you install and repair furnaces in Mahogany?
Yes. Homes in Minto’s Mahogany community run on natural gas, and Oria maintains, repairs and replaces their furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters and HRVs. Newer Mahogany homes mostly need annual servicing, clean filters and ventilation upkeep, plus the occasional repair on a part such as an igniter or flame sensor.
Does well water affect a tankless water heater?
Yes. Hard well water leaves scale inside a tankless water heater’s heat exchanger, which cuts efficiency and can trigger error codes. Flushing the unit with a descaling solution once a year, and ideally treating the water with a softener, keeps it running well. Oria can flush the unit during a regular maintenance visit.
How far is Manotick from Oria Heating and Cooling?
Manotick is a short drive south of our shop at 925 Longfields Drive in Barrhaven, which makes it one of the closer communities we cover. Installs, estimates and tune-ups are booked there all year, and our phone is answered day and night if your heat or cooling stops.
Can you fix an HRV that has stopped working?
Usually, yes. Common HRV problems are clogged filters and cores, a failed motor, frozen cores in extreme cold, or a control that has been switched off. Oria inspects, cleans and repairs HRVs and ERVs, and replaces units that are beyond repair. A new HRV or ERV typically costs $2,500 – $5,500 installed.
